14 Watercolor landscape painting ideas
In my landscape paintings, I mainly use the golden section method to compose my watercolor painting.
In landscape paintings, the near and far are small, which makes the layering of the picture richer and a sense of space.
The four main techniques of watercolor: 1. The composition of the picture; 2. The primary and secondary relationship of the image; 3. The relationship between black, white, and gray, that is, the relationship between light and shade; 4. Color warm and cold. Before we draw this painting, we must design a draft in our mind and use the 4 methods. Before removing a draft, think about the composition of the picture. Generally, it is best to use the golden section method for composition. You can divide the image into nine squares, just like the nine squares that appear when we usually take pictures with mobile phones.
Nearby colors are warmer and have higher color purity, while distant colors are cooler and have lower color purity. Use color to express a sense of space.
The vegetation or other objects in the close range depict the details of the objects in detail to represent the nearby scenery. The distant scenery draws a general outline.
I like to paint the colors of the sunset, so the sky is one of the important parts of the painting. I always paint the color of the sky first, and then the colors of other parts.
In terms of color, use high saturation and low saturation, cool colors, and warm colors. Used to distinguish the long shot, middle shot, and close shot of the picture.
That is to say, when the color of the picture is unified, there must be a contrast between warm and cold.
For example, if I mainly paint the colors of the sunset, then I need to use highly saturated red, yellow, and orange colors for the sunset.
The saturation of the secondary part is lower than that of the sky.
Because, if all the saturations of the entire picture are very uniform, it will be difficult to distinguish the primary and secondary colors in terms of saturation.
In this way, the picture will easily look unclear and look tired.
Any part of the picture, whether it is the composition of the picture, the warmth, and coldness of the colors, or the relationship between light and dark,
Of course, these are just painting techniques, which is one aspect of painting a good watercolor painting.
Painting creation and painting theory are equally important. However, don't worry, as we go beyond the practice of painting, we will have more understanding and progress in painting.
